Hot off the Press! Save the Date for these upcoming CPE programs

  • Nov. 18 | Federal Income Tax Update with Don Farmer
    • This course will focus on reviewing current year developments and planning ideas affecting individual, corporate, and business income taxation using affecting individual, corporate, and business income taxation using a combination of humor and examples. All major new tax legislation will be emphasized as well as other significant tax developments that affect 2022 tax return preparation and 2022 tax planning for individuals, corporations, and non-corporate businesses.

  • Dec. 1 | A&A Update with Jim Martin
    • In light of some members needing a little extra time to secure A&A CPE for 2022 and those seeking to get a jump on 2023, the Society has chosen to offer rare “out-of-season” live (albeit virtual) A&A CPE in December 2022. The classes will cover the new leasing standard, the new non-financial contribution standard, new SSARS 26 on quality management, new SAS 142 on audit evidence and FASBs conclusions on how to account for crypto assets!
  • Dec. 1 | ASCPA's Independent Contractor Workshop featuring Bradley
    • The tension between classifying a worker as an employee or independent contractor has major consequences, especially if your client is audited either by the IRS, the Alabama Department of Labor, or the US DOL, or the Alabama DOR, or a combination thereof -- or is sued by the former (unhappy or injured) worker and in some cases a group of former workers. The CPA plays a key role in advising their client when this situation arises, or hopefully beforehand, and needs to know not only the payroll tax classification rules but the labor and employment tests as well—and ways to mitigate the risks.

  • Dec. 12 | Don Farmer's Corporate/Business Income Tax Update with Bill Harden
    • Discussion points will include tax developments that affect 2022 income tax return preparation and 2022 income tax planning for businesses. This course will be best for individuals who prepare income tax returns for businesses or who engage in income tax planning for businesses, and have at least one year of experience in a “tax season.”

  • Dec. 14 | A&A Update with Jim Martin
    • A more in-depth discussion of the topics discussed during the 2 CPE class offered earlier in December. The new leasing standard, the new non-financial contribution standard, new SSARS 26 on quality management, new SAS 142 on audit evidence, and FASBs conclusions on how to account for crypto assets will be covered.

Look for more information, including registration information, in next week's Addition!
