National Pipeline Research: Please Complete Important Survey

undefined

ASCPA has joined the Illinois Society of CPAs and the Center for Accounting Transformation in the CPA Pipeline Research. This national survey would not be possible without the support and collaborative effort involving numerous organizations from across the country, united in the commitment to advancing our shared goals.

Due to the trending decline in new CPAs, this project seeks to gain insight into the current reasons impacting the decision to become – or not become – a CPA. Then, leverage the findings to determine relevant and effective strategies to increase the number of CPAs.

An initial survey completed in October 2020 attracted 2,527 completions and respondents revealed valuable insights. Since then, there has been a great deal of national attention on this topic as well as several new CPA pipeline initiatives being launched. Our goal is to expand the survey’s reach and compare 2023 responses against previous findings. While there is more research than ever on this topic now, interest continues to be high to learn more about how new initiatives may be influencing barriers and perceptions related to the CPA credential, upon which this survey focuses.

Conducting widespread research is essential to ensuring the long-term success of the accounting profession. The new findings will be published in order to bring awareness and renewed focus to the most relevant and effective strategies to promote the CPA credential.

  • Target Audience: The target audience is specific to only students majoring in accounting and accounting professionals under 35 (non-CPAs and CPAs)
  • The survey is open until Dec. 15, 2023
