Hurricane Isaias Update (10.9.26)
As Hurricane Isaias approaches Alabama and the Gulf Coast, we recognize the challenges this storm may present, particularly with the Oct. 15 federal tax filing deadline just one week away.
On Wednesday, Oct. 7, Gov. Kay Ivey declared a state of emergency for 40 Alabama counties in anticipation of the storm. As in the past, a major disaster declaration from the President of United States would trigger an automatic extension of the filing deadline.
ASCPA is working with the Alabama Department of Revenue and the Governor on an automatic extension. As soon as we have information from ALDOR on this topic we will share another update with all members.
Unless an extension is officially announced, members and their clients should continue to operate under the existing Oct. 15 filing deadline.
We hope everyone has taken, or is taking, the necessary precautions for safety. ASCPA will continue monitoring developments and provide updates as additional information becomes available. As always, if you find yourself needing short-term assistance, please consider the AICPA Benevolent Fund.
