At 9AM this morning, U.S. Treasury Secretary Mnuchin announced that the Trump administration with extend the IRS tax filing deadline three months from April 15, 2020 to July 15, 2020. The extension not only provides taxpayers and business three additional months to file their taxes, it is a response to the financial fallout due to the coronavirus pandemic. In his tweet, Secretary Mnuchin stated: "At @realDonaldTrump’s direction, we are moving Tax Day from April 15 to July 15. All taxpayers and businesses will have this additional time to file and make payments without interest or penalties." - @stevenmnuchin He went on to encourage tax payers to file their taxes as scheduled to ensure they get their refund in a timely matter.
