The State of Alabama continues to update its response efforts regarding Coronavirus(COVID-19). The Alabama Dept. of Labor has modified its existing unemployment compensation rules to allow workers to file a claim for unemployment compensation benefits (see the March 16 Press Release and FAQ from the Alabama Dept. of Labor).

Governor Ivey and the Alabama Dept. of Public Health has issued a statement today which includes restaurant, bar, brewery and Category 3 food service establishment guidelines. (see statement)

As we would expect, the Alabama House of Representatives has cancelled House Committee meetings next Wednesday, March 25 and is not expected to have a quorum to meet next Thursday, March 26. Both the House and Senate will reconvene on Tuesday, March 31. A joint decision will be made at that time regarding the remainder of the 2020 Regular Session.
